The vineyard of origin of Marqués de Riscal Organic Blanco 2018 is between 25 and 30 years old and is planted on high terraces, of sandy soils, near the Duero River. Heirs of the Marquis de RiscalHe used natural treatments such as sulfur powder and copper sulfate and methods of sexual confusion to control insect pests.

Already in the cellar, the musts were fermented, with the natural yeasts present in the grape juice, for 20 days in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature. Its unique nature makes Marqués de Riscal Organic Blanco 2018 a more delicate wine than others in the same category and with a faster evolution in the bottle. Ideal for pairing with fish, seafood, ham, pasta, chicken and cold meats.

Introduction

It is 100% of the Verdejo variety from our own Rueda farms that we have been cultivating with organic farming techniques since 2010. They are vineyards that have an average age of between 25 and 30 years, planted in the typical next high gravel terraces to the Douro River. Thanks to the low relative humidity of this continental climate and the sandy soils that drain the water very well, the pressure of cryptogamic diseases is very low and allows us to control pests in an easy way, using natural contact products such as sulfur in powder and copper sulfate. Sexual confusion techniques control insect pests such as cluster moths and prevent the use of insecticides. Weed control is carried out with different tillage techniques and without the use of herbicides that contaminate the soil, in this sense the biological richness of soil microorganisms is maintained by incorporating exclusively natural organic material from sheep manure.

The wines ferment with the natural yeasts of the must and the only natural mineral clarifier used is bentonite, necessary for the protein stabilization of white wines. This type of wine, more delicate, has a faster evolution in the bottle and it is easy to perceive, with the passage of time, a certain evolution of the original greenish color towards yellow and golden nuances. Taste Attributes

Straw greenish yellow wine. The nose shows an intense varietal character with the classic aniseed and fennel notes typical of the Verdejo. In the mouth it is fresh, with a good structure and persistence, in addition to a certain minerality that clearly reflects the land of Rueda.

In 1972, the wines of the Heirs of the Marquis de Riscal became the driving force behind the creation of the Rueda denomination, making fresh and fruit wines to satisfy a new trend in international taste. From the 2015 harvest this wine is produced following totally organic procedures in the vineyard and in the cellar.

The wine is fresh and aromatic with notes of citrus, flowers and fennel. It is fermented for 20 days in steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 13 and 16º in order to extol the freshness. This wine is well combined with seafood, white meat and pasta dishes or with a selection of cold red meats. Best served between 8 and 10.
